Everything you need to walk the Sandstone Trail: Interactive route map, what to see and do – plus where to stay, eat and drink …

Welcome to Cheshire’s Sandstone Ridge country.

AT ITS HEART IS THE SANDSTONE TRAIL — probably the best, most popular long distance walk in North West England.

The Trail stretches for 34 miles/55 kilometres along Cheshire’s central Sandstone Ridge and promises superb, unbroken, and often elevated walking across this green and pleasant English county.

Along the way you’ll enjoy ever-changing distant views, a vast sunlit forest, two stunning castles, ancient churches and farmhouses, caves, canals, cosy coffee houses, country inns and fine-dining pubs. Plus plenty of places to stay.

You’ll find everything here to plan your trip …
