Eat, drink and be merry: Great food and lovely local brews are a feature of the Sandstone Trail

The Sandstone Trail runs through rural Cheshire, home to every sort of tasty food — from local produce and ‘slow food’ to excellent pub food and real ales, impressive wine lists and fine dining.

Along Cheshire’s Sandstone Trail are farm shops, farmers’ markets, fruit farms and cheese farms. There are farm tearooms, upmarket coffee shops, friendly cafes and traditional pubs. The Sandstone Trail also boasts several microbreweries, an ice cream farm, cheese farms, and a dedicated chocolate shop.

Fine Dining in Cheshire

For fine dining and tempting al la carte menus, try Willington Hall or Peckforton Castle — all close to the central section of the Sandstone Trail.

For excellent pub and restaurant food and attentive service, try the Bears Paw at Frodsham, the Swan Hotel at Tarporley, the Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley, or Docket No. 33 in Whitchurch. Nearby, but a little off the Trail, is the upmarket Carden Park Hotel – Cheshire’s Country Estate.

Whatever your taste and budget, there’s some superlative food and drink along the Trail. It’s enough to make your mouth water.
