They range from small country house hotels like the Heathercliffe, near Frodsham, to luxurious establishments such as stately Willington Hall, at Willington, or the stunning mock-medieval Peckforton Castle Hotel, high on the Peckforton Hills, at the heart of the Sandstone Trail.

Best Walkers’ Pubs on the Sandstone Trail

Rural pubs and inns offering overnight accommodation close to the Sandstone Trail include the Swan Hotel, a traditional old coaching inn on Tarporley High Street, and the charming, upmarket Pheasant Inn at Higher Burwardsley, roughly halfway along the Trail.

Other overnight stops half way along the Sandstone Trail include the Crown Inn, in Tarporley or the more basic camping barn not far from the post office and village hall at Burwardsley.
